Referentia Systems Incorporated President and CEO Nelson Kanemoto participated as a panelist today in the conference titled “Future Focus: Hawaii Innovation Initiative’s Forum on Medical Research, Cybersecurity & More” at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The panel discussion focused on partnerships as a key to protecting critical infrastructure. Mr. Kanemoto joined Connie Lau, President and CEO of Hawaiian Electric Industries, Tim Nader, Chief of the National Security Agency (NSA)/Central Security Service (CSS) Pacific, and Major General (ret.) Brett Williams, President of Operations and Training for IronNet Security and former Operations Director of the U.S. Cyber Command in a panel session moderated by Mr. Randy Cieslak, the Chief Information Officer for Command, Control, Communications, and Cyber Directorate, U.S. Pacific Command.

“We have to be vigilant about protecting critical infrastructure, like the utility grid – especially in Hawaii where there’s no easy access to alternative resources,” said Mr. Kanemoto. “The most effective approaches are holistic and comprehensive, and at that scale, success relies on partnerships.”
